Suzanne Arms, Chloe Fisherand Mary Renfrew Written by two midwives, Mary Renfrew and Chloe Fisher, and author/photographer Suzanne Arms, this book provides photographs, illustrations and a step-by-step approach to help women to get breastfeeding right from the start and to deal with any problems that may already have occurred. It looks at the factors that may work against women's choice to breastfeed and acknowledges breastfeeding, not only as a way to nourish, but also as a way to give love and comfort to a child. In a few areas, LLL recommendations vary from those advised by the authors.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________ Nighttime Parenting – how to get your baby and child to sleep William Sears MD This edition includes research on how co-sleeping may reduce the risk of SIDS. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Breastfeeding: Pure and Simple Gwen Gotsch A slim volume which succinctly deals with the main issues surrounding breastfeeding. The information is given in simple language which gets straight to the point. An excellent book for women who don't read a lot or for those who want to know the basic facts about breastfeeding rather than how breastfeeding lends itself to a style of mothering.

Hirkani’s Daughters - Women who scale modern mountains to combine breastfeeding and working Ed. Jennifer Hicks [La Leche League International 2006] The title derives from an Indian tale from the 1600s of a milkmaid, Hirkani, who one day delivered milk to the royal fort, high on a mountain. At dusk the gates to the fort were closed for security reasons, and Hirkani was trapped in the fort, with her baby waiting in the village below. Determined to return to him, she climbed down a vertical 1000 feet cliff to get back to her village.
This book presents amazing and inspiring stories of real women from all around the world, many of whom were so determined to breastfeed that they went to great lengths and made many sacrifices to succeed – sometimes with support and other times with none.
The book also contains information about support available in different countries for breastfeeding mothers in paid work, and a section on breastfeeding-friendly employers. _________________________________________________________________________________________________
